Community Awards
The Coolamon Shire Council and Australian Federal Government take pride in honouring the many community-minded individuals and groups who work tirelessly to make our Shire a better place to live.
There are a number of ways in which individuals and groups are recognised:
The Australia Day Awards - incorporating the Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and Sports Award of the Year
Honoured Citizen Awards - which are awarded by Council for a lifetime of service to our local communities
Honours Recipients - including Order of Australia Medals and Bravery Medals

2025 NOMINATIONS NOW OPEN
The Coolamon Shire Australia Day Awards are an integral part of these celebrations as they recognise the hard work and dedication of local people who typify the Aussie spirit. Coolamon Shire Council invites you to nominate someone from your local community for the Australia Day Awards to be presented on Australia Day at Beckom. All nominated persons will receive a Certificate formally congratulating them for their achievements.
The Australia Day Awards are administered by Coolamon Shire Council and incorporate the following awards:-
The Citizen of the Year Award: A person over 18 years of age, who has made a valuable contribution to the Community, either during the previous 12 months or over many years of service.
Young Citizen of the Year: A person aged 18 years or less, who has made a valuable contribution to the Community, either during the previous 12 months or over a number of years.
Shane Till Memorial Award for Sporting Achievement: A person who has achieved an outstanding performance (as a participant or administrator) in the field of sport, either during the previous 12 months or over a number of years.
Young Sportsperson of the Year Award: A person aged 18 years or less, who has achieved an outstanding performance (as a participant or administrator) in the field of sport, either during the previous 12 months or over a number of years.
Community Event of the Year: An event that attracts broad / large Community support and/or external visitation. A Community group may be a Club, Committee or Organisation that either organises a particular one-off event that has significant purpose within the Coolamon Shire or alternatively a Club, Organisation or Committee that has a record of significant achievement to the Community over many years.

Nominations close on Monday, 25 November, 2024. Nominations received after this date, will not be eligible. The person who is being nominated must be a current resident of the Coolamon Shire.
