The only cure for fatigue is sleep!
Fatigue-related crashes are almost three times as likely to be fatal than crashes not involving fatigue - drivers who are asleep can't brake.
Fatigue contributes to 15.8 per cent of all crashes in the Coolamon shire.
The choices we make behind the wheel need to be smart and safe:
• before you drive, get a good night’s sleep
• avoid driving at night when your body will naturally want to sleep
• share the driving
• know the early warning signs of fatigue
If you feel tired when driving, pull over in a safe place to take a break, stretch your legs, get some fresh air, take a short nap and swap drivers if you can.
The road toll is not just a number, it is real people and could include your family and friends.
