Official Opening of Coolamon Business Park: A boost for business and employment growth
Tuesday 5 September 2023
Coolamon Shire Council celebrates the official opening of the Coolamon Business Park, marking a significant milestone in the area's economic development. With 22 lots available for sale, the business park promises extensive opportunities for business expansion and employment growth. The Coolamon Business Park was officially opened by Mayor David McCann OAM and Member for Cootamundra, Steph Cooke MP.
Located in the heart of our vibrant community, Coolamon Business Park offers an attractive and strategically positioned site for both established businesses and start-ups.
Member for Cootamundra, Steph Cook MP officially opened Coolamon Business Park with excitement “This is a significant development and a true case of build it and they will come. This project started in 2019 under the Drought Stimulus Package ($1.97 million). We knew that we needed to invest substantially in communities across regional NSW to make sure they could recover from drought affected times. This project is an example of how communities have come out the other end stronger and better than before”.
“I’m pleased to see this now completed and I look forward to the site becoming a hive of activity and offer a space for businesses to grow and expand” said Steph Cook MP.
The Coolamon Business Park prides itself on its commitment to supporting the local community. The development has collaborated with regionally based contractors, enhancing the local economy by providing employment opportunities during the construction phase. Additionally, the park's ongoing management will involve local service providers, further strengthening the ties between the business park and the surrounding businesses.
Coolamon Shire Mayor, David McCann, expressed his excitement about the potential economic benefits the business park will bring to the region. "The opening of Coolamon Business Park marks a new era for our community and its economic development. This development is not only an investment in our future but a testament to the thriving business landscape we strive to encourage."
“This project has been a long time coming, but has been well worth the wait and hard work to make this a reality. The business park will turbo-charge opportunities for business and employment growth. We’ve already witnessed this with over 50 regional-based contractors involved in the construction phase”. Said Mayor McCann.
The availability of 22 lots for sale within the business park presents an opportunity for new and existing local businesses, and out-of-town investors to establish a presence in Coolamon.
General Manager, Tony Donoghue, is pleased with the interest so far “We haven’t started advertising the lots yet and we’ve received a large amount of strong interest. This proves the need to provide land for our growing community and economy. Council will purchase one of the sites to create a business hub offering multiple start-ups the opportunity to rent a smaller space and build up their business prior to expanding to a full lot”.
“The projects total cost came to $4.8 million, with funding received from under the Drought Stimulus Package ($1.97 million) and the Federal Government contributed ($400,000) with Coolamon Shire Council funding the remaining costs. This project is a great example of State, Federal and Local Government coming together to deliver a boost for businesses, community and the economy” said Tony Donoghue.
Coolamon Shire Council is now accepting expressions of interest for lot purchases. For more information, interested parties are encouraged to contact Coolamon Shire Council on 6930 1800 or email council@coolamon.nsw.gov.au
