 Coolamon Shire Council is currently seeking applications for a suitably qualified Cook to work at our Aged Care Residential facility - Allawah Lodge.

This position is a full time role, working a minimum of 38 hours per week, on a shift/roster structure that would look like 8 days on, 6 days off, with a requirement to work every second weekend. This role is one of 2 Cook positions at Allawah Lodge and there will be a requirement to work not only autonomously but effectively together.  This position is covered by the Local Government, Aged Disability and Home Care (State) Award.

ABOUT ALLAWAH LODGE & COOLAMON

Allawah Lodge is a 33 bed facility situated in the heart of the Coolamon health care precinct. The aim of the staff, committee and volunteers is to ensure every resident may reside in a safe home-like environment, where their dignity and privacy is respected, whilst maintaining individual physical, emotional, spiritual and social needs with appropriate assistance. 

Coolamon is a charming country town located in NSW’s Riverina region, rich with beautiful heritage buildings, museums, pubs, local produce, gorgeous heritage streetscapes, boutique shopping and quaint, quirky cafes.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This position is responsible to work with the Aged Care Services Manager, Registered Nurses, Team Leaders, other Care Service Employees and allied health professionals to provide the highest quality of daily living to the Residents of Allawah Lodge, and in particular;

  • Prepare/cook all meals for the residents of Allawah Lodge adhering to their dietary needs.

  • Create suitable, seasonal meal plans/options for residents to enjoy.

  • Conduct food audits and ordering accordingly. 

  • Be responsible for cleaning the kitchen, assisted by other staff when the need arises.

  • Liaise with the Manager and Dietician concerning specific dietary needs of the residents.

  • Conform to all Health Standards Policies related to food handling and preparation.

  • Maintain a high standard of hygiene at all times.

  • Be able to assist with catering for social occasions as required.

  • Keep up-to-date with HACCP and Food Safety changes.

 Applicants should have;

  • Developed communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

  • Commercial Cookery qualification and/or relevant experience.

  • Food Safety Supervisor Certificate or willingness to obtain.
