Heritage grants now open for 2026/27

Coolamon Shire Council is pleased to announce that the Local Heritage Fund Grants program is now open, providing funding to support the preservation and protection of valued heritage places.

Delivered in association with the NSW Heritage Branch of the Office of Environment and Heritage, the program assists property owners to undertake conservation works on Items of Environmental Heritage or properties located within Heritage Conservation Areas.

A total of $25,000 is available in this funding round, with grants starting from $2,000 per application. Applicants are required to contribute a minimum of 50% of the total project cost, ensuring a shared commitment to preserving local heritage.

Mayor Clr David McCann OAM said the funding plays an important role in protecting the character and history of the Shire.

“Our heritage buildings and places tell the story of our community and are a big part of what makes Coolamon Shire so unique,” Cr McCann said.

“This funding provides an opportunity to invest in the preservation of these important assets, ensuring they can be enjoyed by future generations.”

All funded projects must be completed by 26 March 2027.

Applications open Monday 4 May 2026 and close Friday 12 June 2026.

Council encourages eligible property owners to apply and take advantage of this opportunity to contribute to the conservation of Coolamon Shire’s rich heritage.
