Local Government Week
Council delivered a variety of events and engagement activities as part of Local Government Week, held from 3-9 August 2026. This year’s program provided an opportunity to celebrate the work of staff, highlight the range of services and activities Council does, engage with the community and thank Council volunteers.
This year’s activities included:
School Leaders visit to Coolamon Shire Council
School leaders from primary schools across the Shire attended the council chambers for an opportunity to hear from council’s leadership team and councillors. The morning included discussions about the role of local government, leadership and community life. The session finished with some great questions from the students and enjoying lunch together.
Thank you lunch for Council volunteers
Council was delighted to host a special lunch at the Coolamon Up-To-Date Store to recognise and thank council volunteers and honoured citizens.
Coolamon Shire Council is fortunate to be supported by so many community-minded volunteers. Their time and dedication help strengthen the community and contribute to making the Shire a great place to live.
Storyime on the Road
Coolamon Shire Library visited Ardlethan and Ganmain preschools for Storytime on the Road, with lower primary school students also attending the sessions. The events were also open to members of the public. This year’s theme focused on construction & diggers.
Storyime with the Mayor
Coolamon Shire Library hosted Storytime with the Maor at the Coolamon Up-To-Date Store, with more than 60 children attending from Coolamon Central School, St Michael’s Primary School, Coolamon Early Childhood Centre and Coolamon Preschool.
Council’s outdoor staff also arranged for a roller and backhoe to be on display, the children enjoyed the opportunity to view the equipment up close.
Council Meet & Greet Morning Tea
The community was invited to a morning tea to meet council staff and councillors. This event was an informal opportunity for community members to speak with staff & councillors to discuss concerns, questions and ideas over a cuppa.
