Coolamon Shire celebrates opening of key community projects
Coolamon Shire Council has celebrated the completion and official opening of two new community-focused projects on Tuesday, 21 April 2026.
At 10am, Council together with Coolamon Lions Club unveiled a new shelter at Kindra Forest, featuring seating and interpretive panels showcasing the forest’s local flora, fauna, and surrounding habitats. Designed as a welcoming rest point, the shelter provides visitors, school groups and community organisations with a place to pause and learn more about the natural environment. The project was officially opened by The Hon. Steph Cooke and Mayor David McCann, with special recognition given to Jeanette Campbell for her passion and dedication in bringing the project to life.
Later that morning, the two new cabins at the Coolamon Caravan Park were officially opened by The Hon. Steph Cooke and Mayor David McCann. The cabins offer comfortable, family-friendly accommodation for visitors and essential workers, strengthening the Shire’s capacity to host a growing number of guests.
Mayor David McCann said the completion of both projects was a positive outcome for the community.
“It’s fantastic to see these projects come to life, creating welcoming spaces for both residents and visitors,” Mayor McCann said.
“They enhance the experience for those exploring our Shire, while also supporting local tourism and expanding accommodation options.
“These are the kinds of projects that benefit our community now while also setting us up for the future.”
Together, these projects reflect Council’s ongoing commitment to improving local infrastructure, supporting tourism and creating spaces for the community to enjoy for generations to come.
