Nominations are open for Australia Day 2027

On Tuesday 26 January 2027, the Coolamon Shire will be celebrating Australia Day. The Coolamon Shire Australia Day Awards are an integral part of these celebrations as they recognise the hard work and dedication of local people who capture the essence of Australian spirit.

 

Coolamon Shire Council invites you to nominate someone from your local community for the Australia Day Awards to be presented on Australia Day at Redgrave Park in Coolamon. All nominated persons will receive a Certificate formally congratulating them for their achievements.

 

Awards will be given in recognition of outstanding contribution achieved in these areas.

 

  •   Citizen of the Year Award: A person over 25 years of age, who has made a valuable contribution to the community, either during the previous 12 months or over many years of service.

  • Young Citizen of the Year: A person aged 25 years or less, who has made a valuable contribution to the community, either during the previous 12 months or over a number of years.

  •   Shane Till Memorial Award for Sporting Achievement: A person who has achieved an outstanding performance (as a participant or administrator) in the field of sport, either during the previous 12 months or over a number of years.

  •   Young Sportsperson of the Year Award: A young person aged 25 years or less who has achieved an outstanding performance (as a participant or administrator) in the field of sport, either during the previous 12 months or over a number of years.

  •   Community Event / Community Group of the Year: An event that attracts broad / large Community support and/or external visitation. A Community group may be a Club, Committee or Organisation that either organises a particular one-off event that has significant purpose within the Coolamon Shire or alternatively a Club, Organisation or Committee that has a record of significant achievement to the Community over many years.

Nominations close on Monday 23 November 2026. Nominations received after this date, will not be eligible.

 

The person who is being nominated must be a current resident of the Coolamon Shire.
