Have your say: Help shape Council’s new Disability Inclusion Action Plan
Coolamon Shire Council is inviting the community to have their say and help shape the new Disability Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP) 2027–2031.
The new Plan will guide Council’s work over the next four years to make Coolamon Shire more accessible and inclusive for people with disability, including improving access to services, facilities, information, employment opportunities and participation in community life.
Community feedback will play an important role in developing the Plan, helping Council understand what is working well, where barriers exist and what areas should be prioritised into the future.
Council is encouraging everyone to get involved. You do not need to have a disability to provide feedback, with input welcomed from people with disability, carers and family members, service providers, community organisations, local businesses and the wider community.
There are several ways to have your say, allowing people to participate in a way that works best for them:
Complete the community survey – available online or in hard copy. Hard copies are available from Coolamon Shire Council, Allawah Community Care and Coolamon Shire Library. Link: www.coolamon.nsw.gov.au/daipsurvey
Attend an informal community drop-in session – an opportunity to talk directly with Council staff and share ideas and experiences. Dates and times are below:
Ganmain – Rural Transaction Centre - Thursday 8 October 9:30am to 11:30pm
Coolamon – Coolamon Shire Library – Monday 12 October 9:30am to 11:30am
Ardlethan – Ardlethan Lions Park – Thursday 15 October 9:30am to 11:30am
Talk directly with Council staff – community members can book a time to speak with a Council staff member either face-to-face or over the phone. Please phone the Coolamon Shire Library on 69272 492.
Feedback may include experiences with Council services and facilities, getting around the community, accessing information, participating in events and activities, employment, or other barriers and opportunities that could help make Coolamon Shire more inclusive.
The consultation period will be open from Friday 18 September to Friday 23 October 2026.
Council encourages community members to take a few minutes to complete the survey. Every response will help build a clearer picture of what matters to the community and inform practical actions within the new Plan.
